Autistic Eye gets support from Radstock Co-op

Radstock Co-operative Society Director, Jonathan Rich attended the newly re-furbished and much improved Radco store on Tuesday 12th August to present a cheque for £1,100 to Jo and Josh Curd, founders of Autistic Eye Ltd and Josh’s job coach Jonny Wakely.  Autistic Eye is a social enterprise which provides an opportunity for people on the Autistic Spectrum to sell their artwork and share their creativity in a positive way. The money made through the sale of greeting cards provides a supplementary  income for the artists and continued employment for some.

Autistic Eye was one of two causes voted on by Society members at their AGM in June 2014 to receive support both financial in terms of donations and also helping to raise awareness.

‘We are extremely grateful to members of the Radstock Co-operative Society for their interest, support and generosity. Autistic Eye has grown considerably over the past year and we plan to use their sponsorship to develop this work further. It is alreasdy making a huge difference to the lives of some people with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome and we thank the Society  for their part in this.

Vicki Przytocki, Head of HR & Communications said ‘We have already started exploring ways in which we may be able to assist Autistic Eye through promoting their work  in our stores. We are impressed with the creative talents of these artisits  and the different perspectives and dimensions in which they capture their subjects using a variety of different mediums including photography, felt pen and paint.  Society members voting to support organisations such as Autistic Eye shows how we at the Radstock Co-op put in to practice the co-operative values and principles which are at the very heart of everything that we do.”
