Members of the Radstock Co-operative Society voted to support Freewheelers as one of their chosen charities for the year at their  Annual General Meeting held 15th June 2016 at the Radstock Working Men’s Club.

Each year, the Society seeks applications from charities and community groups to receive a financial donation and the support of the Society to help to raise awareness of the specific cause.  This year, a record number of applications were received from groups situated in all areas of the retail trading estate and a shortlist was drawn up from which attendees of the AGM were invited to vote upon.

To mark the occasion of the start of the Freewheelers year of support, the Society’s President Jeremy Fricker and Vice-President, Graham Jeffery presented a cheque for £1,100 to volunteers, Chris Nourse, Chris Kearns and Wilf Hodgson.

Vicki Przytocki, Head of HR & Communications said, “We are proud to be supporting this vital service which relies totally on donations and fund-raising activities to finance the operation.  It is a service which transports vital equipment, medical supplies, medical records, specimens and life-saving products such as blood and antidotes across Somerset.  Freewheelers works in close partnership with NHS hospitals, the emergency services and local medical centres.  We hope that during the year, we can raise awareness of the cause and their team of dedicated volunteers, many of them local residents within our trading areas, who give up their time to respond and react to emergency and life threatening situations.”
