How To Apply

We decide whether or not to interview you for a job based upon the information you give us on your application form.  It is therefore important that you give us clear and relevant information and that you answer all questions in full.

Before you start, read all the information you have about the job.  This will help you decide whether you would like to do the job and you can also consider whether you have the skills, knowledge and experience to do the job.  You may want to make a rough copy of your answers first so that you can decide exactly what you want to say before you complete the form itself.  RCS understand that experience and skills can be gained in a number of ways, not only through paid employment so don’t forget to include information relating to travelling, voluntary work and hobbies & interests.

Once you have completed your application form it should be returned to the Human Resources department, Co-operative House, 3 Wells Road, Radstock BA3 3RQ or emailed to Jobs@radstock.coop.  If your application is successful we will contact you and arrange for you to attend for an interview.  If your application is unsuccessful we will write to you advising you of this.

To Apply for Employment with Radstock Co-op you will need to complete an application form and equal opportunities monitoring form.

The following notes contain information that you may find useful in completing your application form, so read them carefully before you start to fill out the form.

Membership of Professional Bodies

Please include in this section details of any professional bodies you are a member of (e.g. Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales).  You should also include details of any foreign languages you speak and your level of fluency both written and spoken.  In the next two sections you should include details about outside interests / leisure activities and any voluntary or unpaid work you do.

Education and Qualifications

Please give details of your education history since the age of eleven, including college/university courses and any qualifications obtained.  For professional posts you will be asked to produce copies of relevant certificates confirming your qualifications prior to an offer being confirmed.  You will also need to produce your driving licence and current insurance certificate showing that you are covered for limited business use if you use your car in connection with any Society business for which you claim mileage expenses.

Employment History

Here you will need to provide details of any paid and unpaid employment.  It’s useful to include an overview of the job role undertaken and the duties carried out in order to give the person reviewing your application an insight into your skills and experience.  You should also include your reasons for leaving.

We shall seek to verify the information supplied by applying for references from previous employers or educational establishments as appropriate.

It is important to provide details of any gaps in employment or education.

Other information in support of your application

This is your chance to tell us how you meet the requirements of the job role you are applying for.  Don’t leave this blank as you will most definitely reduce your chances of getting an interview.  We want to hear about your strengths, knowledge, skills, achievements and successes whether work related or gained in other environments or situations.
